PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

 

North Capital Collaborative, Inc. engages minimally 25 to 30 community-based organizations on a monthly basis. Many of these organizations participate in on-going partnerships with NCCI by providing direct client services or through community events and/or marketing collaborations.  Further, NCCI acknowledges that any partner that NCCI collaborates with that has direct contact with children and youth certifies that their employees and volunteers have the appropriate and necessary clearances.  Furthermore, NCCI mini-grant recipients, if approved, must submit appropriate clearances. 

Metro Youth Entrepreneur Program, Inc. - MYEP is a youth program located in the service area and dedicated to teaching youth entrepreneurial skills. This organization collaborated with NCCI as a mini-grant recipient.

Metro Delta Literacy Council - Metro Delta Literacy Council is located within walking distance for NCCI clients. Metro Delta partners with NCCI in events pertaining to literacy and GED preparation for clients in need of this service. NCCI has referred numerous fathers to this program.

 Mt. Sinai Baptist Church - Mt. Sinai Baptist Church is located in the service area and partners with NCCI in hosting its Community Networking meeting. It also collaborates with NCCI in providing transportation to NCCI summer camp for youth.

 Mt. Airy Baptist Church - Mt. Airy Baptist Church is within the Sursum Corda community and works closely with NCCI on several community projects that include the 2003 Community Fun Day for Sursum Corda. This faith-based partner also provides NCCI space for its parent education graduations.

 Mt. Olive Baptist Church - Mt. Olive Baptist Church is within walking distance of NCCI. Pastor Simmons is a continuous partner with NCCI serving of its community board for the review of mini-grants.

 Walker -Jones School- Walker-Jones School is the elementary school that serves the NW1 community and has been a partner for many events. Most recently, Walker Jones has signed on with NCCI to implement the “Court Truancy Diversion and YTRIP Programs”.

 Dunbar High School - Dunbar High School is the local high school within the NCCI service area for approximately 500 teenagers within the service area. NCCI has collaborated with Dunbar on a number of community initiatives to include Project Spirit, a youth developmental program. Dunbar, through its guidance counselor, operated as an independent contractor for the program. Dunbar was also a co-host of NCCI’s 2006 Child Neglect and Abuse Program.

 MM Washington High School - M.M. Washington High School is also located within the NCCI service area and has been a partner with NCCI on several projects. Currently, M.M. Washington hosts NCCI parent education program within the school. M.M. Washington provides teenage parents both mothers and fathers to NCCI’s parent education program.

 Hyde Charter Leadership School - Hyde Charter Leadership School partners with NCCI in providing a parent support group. This group meets regularly at Hyde to address issues pertaining to parenting and family support resources. Additionally, Hyde has worked with NCCI in promoting child neglect and abuse as well as issues of father absence.

 St. Martins Church - St. Martins Church has served the NCCI community since the early 60’s. Since NCCI’s inception in 1997, St. Martins has collaborated with NCCI on youth programs, job fairs, board activities, and literacy training for community clients.

 Metropolitan AME Zion Church - Metropolitan AME Zion Church is located in the Bloomingdale community and is a regular partner with NCCI’s Annual Board Elections. Rev. Lewis Anthony also serves informally as NCCI faith base representative.

 Associates Renewal in Education - Associates in Renewal in Education (ARE) is a NCCI educational partner supporting NCCI’s event and participating in regular discussions at NCCI Monthly Networking Meeting.

Center for Life Enrichment - This is a freestanding minority controlled mental health clinic located in close proximity to the NCCI service area. Representatives from the Center are regular participants at the NCCI Monthly Community Networking Meeting and committed to assisting NCCI with services for clients referred.

 Community Family Life Services - This is the social service arm for the Tyler House Apartments north of Sursum Corda. Due to limited staff capacity, Community Family Life Services collaborates with NCCI through the referral of clients, participation in events, and attendance at the NCCI Monthly Networking Meeting.

United Planning Organization - UPO is located within NCCI’s service area, the Ledroit Park community. They are participants in the NCCI Networking Meeting. NCCI assists UPO with its community board development and client referral services. UPO has a father’s program and with NCCI collaborate on events and services to promote father involvement.

Urban League of Greater Washington - The Urban League of Greater Washington is a regular attendant at the NCCI Community Networking Meeting. They have collaborated with NCCI to provide fathers services in the areas of job placement and employment training.

Universal Health Care - Universal Health Care is a major vendor for the Department of Mental Health and partners with NCCI on community issues as well as receives referrals, especially in respect to the human capital needs for the Sursum Corda community.

Bread for the City - This is a well-known human services organization within the NCCI area and the Shaw community at large. “Bread for the City” offers food, clothing, medical and housing referrals as well as special community initiatives during the holiday season. This organization has collaborated with NCCI over the last three years during Thanksgiving to provide 200 families with a Thanksgiving meal.

Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless - This organization assists the homeless on issues relating to the essential needs of survival. Medical and housing issues are critical for this organization as well as boarder concerns that relates to the collective rights of homeless people.  They participate in the NCCI community-networking meeting.

NW Cooperative Homes One and Two - This is a low to moderate-income housing complex within the NCCI service area. The Board and Tenant Association partner with NCCI by allow the Collaborative to utilize space on its site to implement family services, community capacity building, and truancy intervention.

DOES - Department of Employment Services is a regular partner with NCCI offering employment and training services to its clients as well as a participant in NCCI’s Annual Job/Career Fair.

Gospel Rescue Ministries - Gospel Rescue Ministries is a drug intervention faith based organization located within the NCCI service area of Chinatown. For the past four years, Gospel Rescue Ministries has collaborated with NCCI to implement the DC Fatherhood Initiative. Gospel Rescue Ministries has also assisted NCCI with various clothing drives for male and female clients. Currently, Gospel Rescue Ministries collaborates with NCCI in the referral of clients to its training school and in the referral of clients from Gospel to NCCI’s Fatherhood Initiative program.

ROOT - ROOT is “Reaching Out to Others Together”. An organization works to diminish youth violence in the city as well as secure city resources for victims of homicide. ROOT has collaborated with NCCI in community resources fairs as well overall promotion of services to families and youth.

Covenant House - Through their New York Avenue, NW  site, Covenant House partners with NCCI in making available emergency shelter and crisis intervention services to youth in need. They attend NCCI’s monthly community networking meeting and becomes a part of NCCI web of partners.

Mother Dearest - Mother Dearest is a community non-profit serving families with food and clothing. This is small but long-standing community service provider that partners with NCCI in providing clothes and food as well as assisting in the NCCI Thanksgiving drive.

Project Harvest - Project Harvest is a citywide project that provides Thanksgiving meals to families during the holiday season. NCCI has been fortunate to collaborate with Project Harvest to feed 200 families.

Office on Religious Affairs - The Mayor’s Office on Religious Affairs has supported NCCI with back to school supplies, turkey baskets, and toys for children within its service area.

Nations Capitol Child and Family Development - This is a community-based organization providing child day care services to local communities. They have several centers within the NCCI area and accept NCCI families in need of day care services. This organization is a regular participant in the NCCI networking meeting.

Sursum Corda Tenant Association - This organization represents the needs of residents within the Sursum Corda community. They collaborate with NCCI for services to residents as well as technical assistance to the development of their human capital plan.

Youth and Families in Crisis- This is a social services organization specializing in providing services to youth. The organization operates citywide but partners with NCCI as it relates to the social marketing efforts of child neglect and abuse prevention.

Falcon Edge - Falcon Edge emphasizes services to fathers and men with difficult backgrounds. They collaborate with NCCI as recipients of technical assistance in the area of service delivery and community organization.

Handover Area Civic Association - This is a local community civic organization within the NCCI area. They collaborate with NCCI to bring resources to the community through the sponsorship to the annual community block party.

Goodwill - This is a long-standing community organization that provides a variety of social services. They collaborate with NCCI in accepting clients in their training, food and clothing programs.

Harry Thomas Recreation - This Department of Recreation Center is located within the service area and assists NCCI in hosting events. NCCI has collaborated with this center in sponsoring a board installment activity, community resource days, and general community meetings.

Walker Jones Health Clinic - This is a local community clinic serving the Sursum Corda community. NCCI partners with them in the annual community health fair.

Mentors Inc. - Mentors Inc. is located within proximity to NCCI and participates in NCCI’s Community Networking Meeting. This organization is standing partner with NCCI in the promotion of the prevention of child neglect and abuse.

World Missions - World Missions is located within the NCCI service area and provides the community with food and clothing services. It is a current partner with NCCI as one of its mini-grant recipients.

Bloomingdale Civic Association - This local civic association is a participant in the NCCI community networking meeting and partner in the promotion of child neglect and abuse promotion.

Bates Street Civic Association - This local civic association is a participant in the NCCI community networking meeting and partner in the promotion of child neglect and abuse promotion.

Emery House Shelter - This organization houses approximately 100 men. Emery House collaborates with NCCI to provide services to men and fathers. This partnership has been in existence over 3 years.

Reliable Resources Employment Services - This organization provides staffing needs for many city employers, specifically the Convention Center. NCCI collaborates with Reliable Resources for employing father clients. Over the last year, Reliable Resources has place approximately 30 fathers in jobs.

School for Tomorrow - School for Tomorrow provides GED and computer skills training. NCCI has a partnership with the community resources for the referral of clients. Additionally, this partner also participates in NCCI’s job and career fairs.

Melwood Training Center - Melwood Training Center also provides GED and computer skills training. NCCI has a partnership with the community resources for the referral of clients. Additionally, this partner also participates in NCCI’s job and career fairs.

UDC – Workforce Development - The University of the District of Columbia Workforce development provides GED and computer skills training. NCCI has a partnership with the community resources for the referral of clients. Additionally, this partner also participates in NCCI’s job and career fairs.

Arbor Education and Training- Arbor Education and Training provide job employment services to TANF clients. It currently collaborates with NCCI as a potential employer and work site provider for its clients who seek work experiences and employability as required under TANF stipulations.

National Housing Cooperation Learning Center - National Housing Cooperation Learning Center provides painter-training services to residents of low to moderate income housing complexes in the District of Columbia. NCCI collaborates with this organization for networking them to housing complexes within the service area.

Career Blazers - Career Blazers is a staffing company that works with low to moderate income families by recommending employment placement for them. This organization has participated in several of NCCI’s events to include its annual job fair, identifying residents and working with them to find employment.

ITT Technical Institute - ITT Technical Institute is an on-going partner with NCCI and annual participant in its annual job fair. NCCI refers fathers for computer testing and assist them in finding grant assistance to the program.
